"China is already the largest market for electrified vehicles, offering us unprecedented opportunities to develop new types of traction motors, which are the most important element of an electric vehicle's powertrain," he said.

"China is a longstanding friend of Sri Lanka, therefore, we stand in solidarity with the people and the government of China at this hour of difficulty", said K K Yoganaadan, acting ambassador of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in China.

"China looks to me to be well on course to meet the 2020 goal. On my reckoning, 6.2 percent per annum for each of the next three years should do it. So there is even a bit of a cushion if things go slightly awry for any reason. China can now afford a bit of a trade-off between the quantity and quality of growth in future," he said.

"China believes that in the process of revitalizing the General Assembly, we need to make full use of the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and push the UNGA to further improve its work, boost efficiency, and thus fully fulfill its responsibilities under the (UN) Charter," said the envoy.

"Central and Eastern European countries have a lot of goods we need, such as high-quality machinery, agricultural products and food. We have many advantages in infrastructure construction, manufacturing and modern agriculture," said Tang, noting that both sides' imports are complementary.
